Questions to Ask a Design Firm: Liquid
Commotion creates web sites for small business. We specialize in doing
high quality designs that gives you an edge against your competition,
increases traffic, offers solid function and are easy to update. Typically,
making changes to your web site a year later will cost money and often
the design will be discarded and rebuilt. We build sites that allow
most changes to be handled by the client with no HTML experience,
allowing your online presence to grow with your business. Here are
some questions to ask when hiring a design firm:
Question #1: Does your potential designer
build pages that are quickly and easily updated by the client?
Very few design firms offer this since it takes extra time to build
and some feel they will loose future income. Easy updates makes
our web sites a good investment over time.
Question #2: How much should I spend for a good quality design?
Entrepreneur magazine says you should be prepared to pay in
a range from $3,500 to $12,000 for a professional-looking web site
for a small business, unless it is an e-commerce site. Expecting
great results spending $500 often ends in disaster.
Question
#3: If a need multimedia in my site, does my professional
know how to properly implement it? Over use of animation or
slow loads can lead to a very negative experience for your visitors.
Ask if your candidate specializes in multimedia oriented designs.
We do.
Question
#4: Does your candidate have a good
grasp on user interface issues? Nothing is more frustrating
than going to a site that is unclear or confusing. How do I get
to what I want? If you look at a candidates web site and your are
asking that question, that is not a good sign. We start with clear,
simple navigation which is a key to a good site.
Question
#5: How quickly will my site load and what browsers will my site
work in? Every page that we design meets exact client needs
whether it is for a 56K user or DSL. Since we have the resources,
all our designs are tested in multiple browsers, multiple operating
systems as well as cross platforms. You
want your design to work equally well using Windows NT and DSL as
it will running Mac OS X and a modem.
We have a long list of satisfied clients. Some of them include Agilent,
Comcast, ING, Foote Cone & Belding, Compaq Computers, AT&T,
Brand Interactive, ACTV, Red Lobster, Mondo Media, Nike, The Feedroom,
and Euro RSCG Tatham Partners. We have a solid portfolio of work.
Please contact us, and we will be happy to help with any questions
you might have.
