GEORGE ASHMAN, CPA, LLB
George Ashman is a Managing Director at HLW Fund Services and is also a member of its Executive Board. In addition to being a CPA, George is a licensed attorney in the state of California.
George has been with HLW for 24 years. In addition to his role at HLW Fund Services, he is the partner in charge of HLW's tax practice, responsible for overseeing all processes and technical compliance and for ensuring client satisfaction and quality control. George specializes in providing tax planning and compliance services to businesses, investment funds, high net worth individuals and estates and trusts.
George's specialized knowledge about tax issues around partnerships allows him to assist clients in entity formation, tax planning and compliance. He works closely with his clients, including the general partners of investment funds and their advisors, to formulate tax strategies that provide maximum flexibility while minimizing the cost of operations. George is also experienced in designing compensation plans that provide optimal income, estate and employment tax treatment.
Prior to joining HLW in 1986, George spent 12 years in the tax department of Arthur Andersen & Co.
George is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of the Bar in California and Maryland. George received a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland.
